Anyone running veggie?
I'm (hopefully) picking up another Diesel when I get back to the UK in a couple of weeks and was wondering what the deal with veggie oil was? I know a lot of the older cars (W123's) etc are supposed to run fine on veggie oil, but how about late 80's/early 90's cars? (OM603/606 etc) I read somewhere that you're supposed to run into problems with the newer common-rail engines but older one's are better suited to running veggie or part veggie. I was thinking of running 50/50 or something.

On the other side of the pond you may want to check out an Elsbett system.

Goat Industries which may be able to assist you with any legal aspects of WVO use in UK. There are many members of that forum who drive Mercedes, Landrovers, VWs Pugs, Citroens etc. They may be able to offer advice on the most effective vehicle for your desired fuelling source. The Infopp Forum also has a llarge following of people using biodiesel or WVO across the world.

So, you're moving from beautiful Lancaster county back to the UK? Willow Grove is ok---until the snow flies. I almost got hung up on that hill on 272, right after the railroad tunnel last year in a snow storm. When I first cleared the tunnel I was wondering what all those cars were doing along the shoulder. Then I started sliding right their way and realized why they were there. I made it to the Turkey Hill market at the Buck where I spent the rest of the night. Cheers, Bill |

Wvo
Thats for sure... if we can get our government to stop paying the farmers to not plant corn. We'd have lots of oil seed crops out there to compete with the oil imports. I'm currently working on converting a 82' 240D over to WVO. Our local Pub owner stated that they that could supply me with 15-20 gallons per week and that it would help their bottom line by not having to deal with the offensive odors durning the summer months and the cost of having it hauled..

WVO-Reg Gas Mix - Beautiful!
I'm running reg gas/WVO mix at about 80% WVO on an 84 300td. Filtered a couple times down to 10 microns, then mix the gas with it. Runs great! Smooths out the diesel vibration, smooth as silk, purrs like a kitten. Power is the same. Ran into a problem tho because the mix cleans out the system of all the diesel gunk built up over the years. Got tired of replacing the filters so I removed the fuel tank and cleaned it. Able to replace the small inline filter in about 7.5 minutes now tho. Love the veggies!

I want to put in a Vegtherm standard to my GreaseCar. Does this diagram look like it would work? Turns out this was not right. expect the picture to break. 86 goes to Vegsensor and then out to trigger wire.

Back in the 70's a buddy of mine moved to Buffalo. Went to visit him over the Christmas holidays. Very little snow on the ground when I got there. I laughed and said "I thought you guys get pounded up here?" Next morning I come down the steps for my coffee and Dave asks if I have looked outside. Holy jeez....all that you could see of my 4 WD truck was the antenna!! Now thats snow. Back to the topic....anybody have trouble in the winter with blending? I've been running 80% diesel and 20% blend during the colder months but I just wonder if I would be ok with less diesel. Over 20K on blend and only problem I've had so far is injector coking. Cheers, Bill
