Well yeah I guess for you older guys who only have to pay a few hundred bucks a year then yeah it would make sense. Collison for me would probably run $1,500+ a year! I can't wait to hit 20.

I know the 85 300D I own is rated at 1400 book value, but heck, I would rather drive it than a lot of other new cars; for one barring a smash up, I can keep it running for quite awhile... it has already outlasted a lot of cars built in this century, like my neighbor's 2001 minivan, which went into service the same month as my rebuilt 85 300D.
I have put 148,000 miles on mine; they got 92,000 miles on the new minivan before it died ..
The shame is my 87 300D is so nice, yet if someone "clipped it" I would maybe get $4K max. and I swear that car is worth 4 times that much!! which is why i dont drive it
