P0180 Diagnostic / Malfunction Code??
The Check Engine Light has been on and off several times in the past week. It's currently out (once again).
I used a code reader at the local parts store today. It reports "Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit Malfunction (P0180)". Ever heard of it? Got any ideas? What's the significance of this? Cheers, Ed

Fuel Temperature Sensor information
Attached you will find information on the Fuel Temperature Sensor.
It is integrated with the Electrohydraulic Shutoff Actuator. Fortunately it is a relatively inexpensive and easy part to replace should you need to go that route.

It's stuff like this that makes me really glad I have an '85 300D without any of the fancy electronics.

Len,
I haven't resolved it yet. The strange part is that the CE light comes and goes. I reset it once, and it came right back; but it has gone away on its own for a month at a time. Thanks to deltajetfixer for the encouraging info. Ed

Take the plug out of the EHA and clean it and reinsert it with dielectric grease and see if that helps. If you do change it, forget about making is just that and the O-ring. You probably should change your hoses too since now when you disrupt it, they will leak.

I've been seeing the P0180 Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit error code on my '98 E300. After resetting it, the CEL comes on when accelerating, such as getting on the highway. Took out the plug today and cleaned it. Checked the resistance between pins 2 and 3 and got 7.9 ohms.
Hopefully cleaning the pins fixes the problem. |
