Loose rearend on 87 300D

Last night was the first time I drove my 300 in the snow. Several times I noticed a loose feeling from the rear of the car. Its hard to describe but it was subtle, and felt like the rear suspension is shifting or loose from the car. I know for a fact that I was not sliding on the road, and my wife who normally drives the car said that she has felt this feeling sometimes when the car shifts from 3rd to 4th (auto trans). I have done searches and plan to check the bushings, but I'm wondering if this is a common problem and specific places to look. Thanks
