Damn! Back problems are common in this group. Suffering from a "bulged disk" myself and so I use an "old man" lumbar pillow too. I rebuilt the seat base but now the set back needs to be done. It just hold the spine in a nice curve, no lumbar support anymore. I am planning on simply putting the lumbar pillow inside the seatback under the MBTex and using a little spray adhesive to keep it there. RT

My seats are pretty worn as well, but I think I would rather find something nice used instead. 2 friends of mine have Volvo wagons, those seats are in an entirely different class IMHO. Great, adjustable lumbar support, and really nice heaters. The older one (89) has a similar leather pattern to the MB. Now, if I can find a nice pair in gray..................................

I'm NOT an old man (~12yrs mentally), but I also have a pillow for a lumbar support. I plan to buy one of those supports specifically made for that and instal it under some sheepskin covers. Of course, all it takes is $'s and right now I'm doing everything I can to pay bills.

My seat used to be a little uncomfortable (and COLD) on cold mornings...leather sucks the heat right out of you, so I got a sheepskin, a nice thick one, from Sams Club for $25. It turned my seat into the most comfortable thing ever, major difference, I can sit in it forever. Plus....its not cold....which is a very very nice thing...

I've found that these cars are the most comfortable to sit in, at least compared to our japanese cars. I got really nice sheepskins on mine, which helps. It seems that my mom's w126 has more back support though, I'm not sure if im imagining things but that 300SDL is more comfortable to drive.

Maybe I'm getting old and creaky, but my experience is completely different than most posters here. All my Jap cars have been an order of magnitude more comfortable than this Benz. I've replaced the driver's seat with one in great shape - the old one had a broken spring. The new one sits level, but is one of the most uncomfortable seats ever. It's getting to the point where I get cramps if I have to sit in traffic any length of time.

This is what I am doing, and I will provide pictures when it happens:

I got a set of leather seats from a '83 BMW 533i for $40. Completely adjustable, good side and lumbar support. Everything the W123 seats are not. Best of all, the seat belts attach to the seat frame, and the reels bolt into the Benz locations. All it will require is some minor fabrication to adapt the seat frame to the Benz mounting points. It's going to be good. Down with MB W123 inferior seats!

That bad huh? That does pose a problem and i wonder, since these cars aren't the fastest or the most maneuverable around, why you'd keep driving one if you aren't even comfortable in it

Everyone's body is different though i suppose. But my sister's 2000 corolla seats are like cardboard. My dad's 2000 Accord isn't too bad though, but it always feels odd to drive 'cause the steering wheel's so small .

similar idea over here. I got a pair of seats from a 98 BMW 750iL last tuesday. I'll have to wait until summer to put them in, but I can hardly wait! Of all the things I DON'T like about my car, the seats are on top of the list. There are only a couple other things I don't like, fixing the seats will make it a super keeper.

Yes, Volvo is an entirely different seat experience! Our Volvo 850 wagon (sold) had THE MOST comfortable seats I've ever sat in. We drove 4000 miles in about 2 weeks (to Tx and back) and never felt uncomfortable ('cept when it was 117* in TX). Even my sis, who has the same bulging disc/pinched nerve as me, was comfortable in them at the height of her problem. I've thought about replacing my 190d's seats with Volvo seats (researching if possible). Would keep the Mercedes seats for resale, but use the Volvo seats until then Actually, I've even thought of getting one for the living room...trying to find anything comfortable to sit in

My friend had a 5.0 Mustang and I think those were the most comfortable seats I've sat in.

Ok, I admit it, my seat base is so shot on both sides that I have the pads from a rocker to use to build it up under the seat cover...

So sue me...

I am 18 years old...and I have you ALL BEAT!
I have a heating pad plugged into a power converter that keeps my recently extremely sore somewhat subdued..
I am 6'6" so back problems = basic mobility problems
The seats in my car are literally raped (falling apart, had a spring poking me in the butt, etc).
I cannot play the pillow game becuase the car barely fits me vertically trying to sit up straight my hat mashes the sunroof.
I really want to find some different seats to put in the car or atleast redo these (I like the power seats).
Anyone know where you can get either decent stock leather or a seat cover that looks halfway decent (I don't like sheepskin...doesnt fit with my lifestyle too well )
Also now I want heated seats

My seats are in okay condition, the backs are great, except on the back of my drivers seat the back side falls off and hits any passengers in the knees. My front seats hit bottom when you sit in them, now maybe i need a pillow there. My butt actually feels like it's about 4 inches off the pavement. My kids tell me i'm pimp'n. That all I need is a white hat and a feather.
