"High Performance" SDL "Only pre-approved bidders will be allowed to bid

Check this out. Looks like a crock sales ploy to me. All these extensive mods which necessitates the need for "pre approved bidders." On an SDL. What are these mods? A new head or something? ALDA cranked up? He's acting like it's so fast, it's dangerous. My motorcycle is dangerous, my old 54 Chevy hot rod truck was dangerous. But a Mercedes diesel sedan?

"140MPH"

"Easily exceeding 35mpg"

Whatever. I don't care. If it's nice and the price is right, I'll buy it.

With all the money they spent on it (somewhere around $5k, I think they said), you would think that they could've at least spent a few more bucks, and bought new headlight doors.

"Due to the nature of the expensive and highly sensitive performance improvements....this vehicle's engine and suspension have been conditioned to BETTER THAN ORIGINAL condition"
And secretive improvements as well.
Does not say anything was rebuilt, does not in fact say anything at all.

Stinks of major scam to me.
But sure worth the $.99 starting bid! I'll take it!

Easily exceeding 35mpg during extensive road tests, this vehicle's engine and suspension have been conditioned to BETTER THAN ORIGINAL condition. The classic lines and features of the '87 S-Class are unmistakable. This vehicle is offered as INVESTMENT-GRADE, BUY-to-HOLD.

fine print

Due to the secret midgets and elves , and not to mention the fine corinthian leather ,that we've hidden in the trunk, only deposed dictators will be allowed to bid on this fine vehicle.

I studied the pictures like he said to

Quote:
The entire interior is in good condition and will be professionally detailed prior to delivery.
If the interior is in such great shape, then why even bother with the seat covers?

The center wood also has cracks and the plastic ring around the shifter seems warped. The switch for the light in the back is installed upside down. The car is in the off position, the radio is off... and yet the antenna is up.

If the engine is really that great, then why is it so dirty? Doesn't a sign of "High Performance" usually like to show off a clean engine too? Also, check out the brake fluid, its black, and the coolant is green. Hmm... looks to me like their techs aren't Mercedes certified . The power steering pulley appears to be orange in color... rust?

And... there appears to be a chip on the driver side headlight frame.

I'm done studying the photos as the guy mentioned.

Actually the body from the pictures as far as I can tell looks good. However, it could be hiding underlying problems. The intereior looks very sad. I think it's a sucide sale on E-Bay. Man what some people lower themselves to, just to make a buck of the Mercedes Benz name.

Do we have a "Beware of E-Bay" thread that we can alert everyone on here about false and misleading sales of items for Mercedes Benz? If not we should start one.

Boy that stock exhaust is most defintely a preformace mod :-D

Nothing on the engine looks special...
Maybe it has some chrome parts on it that make it faster

This is where the picture is hosted
http://www.evergenttechnology.com/products.htm

Weak....very weak....
No address listed on that website...
Only emails and a single telephone address for a "computer supplier"?
I don't understand..
Looks hazey to me...

"High perforamce" equating to "less than origional but higher than engine being turned over by the wheels going downhill?
Wonder if it even runs........

Take a look:

Funny, the engine looks totally stock to me, no modified exhaust manifold, turbo, IC installed, exhaust pipe stock.... Everything you can get with that engine is 180 hp, with stock parts, and that is not enough for 140 mph.

With stock engine adjusted to the max my 124 did 135 mph (215 km/h).

Some people will do anything to earn some money.

There must be a NOS sticker on the back window. It's the only thing that could explain this nonsense.
