Not to detract from the topic of this wonderful thread, but I've had malaria, in fact, I lived for many years over several countries in which malaria is more common than the common cold/flu is here and NO, once you get it it doesn't stay in your system and doesn't have recurring appearances. Just thought I'd mention it.

malaria

I have lived in the tropics, and yes - the plasmodium parasite stays in your system, took me 3 bouts before I was rid of it.

Look up the plasmodium vector cycle in 'Kumar and Robbins' (pathology text) and you'll find that it does recur.

cheers

You must not have had the appropriate treatment to get rid of the malarial parasite. Once it has been cured by the best means, it never comes back. Trust me, I've spent 4/5 of my life living the countries in which mosquitos carrying plasmodium are all over the place. Not to mention that I had the disease as a child. I know this stuff doesn't recur. But anyway, let's not detract from the subject of this thread.
