Had my cruise amp rebuilt yesterday

Beckmann Technologies is 20 mins from my house. They rebuild MB cruise amps, climate control, instrument clusters, ecus, etc. They said that a new one was $500 for the manuals - they didn't have any on the shelf. They rebuilt mine for $150 in a few hours. Works flawlessly - holds speed without the random shutoffs I had before with no surging. Well worth the money. I highly recommend them.

Hmmm...need to work on my signature.

http://www.beckmanntechnologies.com/

I live in Chapel Hill, NC and Beckmann is in Durham, NC. I used my father's shop's account for the rebuild although I paid for it myself. I don't know if I'm getting a discount. They rebuilt a 944 Turbo cruise amp for me 6 months ago for the same price.

They are good folks, a small family run operation. They do all kinds of Mercedes electrical stuff. They are very active in the MBCA Triangle Section and a big sponsor of StarTech '05, http://www.mbca.org/startech/. Bob Beckmann will be doing a seminar at StarTeck '05.

Another source is GDL. I have no interest here other than they've rebuilt two of my cruise amps and both have worked well for years. Their website has some useful testing and tech info too.

Yeah, GDL is good. Their testing procedure saved me from buying the cruise actuator when in fact it turned out to be a bad switch in the column.

Rebuild is such a general term. What did they actually do to it? Did you look inside for a before and after shot?

What's the first thing to check if the cruise control simply does not work at all?
