Yes, interesting. Looks like they put an intercooler where the condenser would go. I don't see any cooling fan(s) at the radiator though. Maybe there is an electric one low on the radiator and out of sight of the pictures.

Our old pal Janusz Batko from Krakow, Poland has a w123 retrofitted with, I believe, an OM 601.

I am not seeing a fan either
Would that radiator be big enough for the engine? It looks like the stock w123 one..
Curious though...they did a pretty nice install.

Damn! Brainstorm!

If you put one of these engines (603, 606) in a 123, you now have the opportunity to use the more available and easy to find 5-speed manuals with left side starter wart.

...hmmm, I have a 603 and have a good idea where to find one of those 5-speeds. Gawd, whaddawagon that would make.

There is a lot of space in the engine room of W123 because of boxy design. W123 with +250 hp diesel will be quite a surprise for any rice burner with huge spoiler.

In case you are interested in building your own SuperTurbo, Jorma in Finland is manufacturing custom exhaust manifolds for turbo use, see sample pics in http://mersuforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16301

Sorry about the lingo, but pictures are self-explanatory.

Yep, and I some one is really interested, I can help with pump modifications, exhaust manifolds and possibly good intercoolers.

My friend "Jorma" can also make manifolds for 4-valve engines, he has made my manifold as well for my 24 V engine.

349 hp = Qualified as a SuperTurbo.

Quite a surprise for teenagers in their tuned ricers.

W123 Video

The summer season has begun in Finland. Here is the video of first inofficial trial racing in Ylivieska airport. Some diesel results: MB 190 13 sec@180 km/h, W123 13,88 sec@169 km/h.

http://takaisin.fi/ylivieska_15.5.2005.wmv

Video is quite large, 10,44 minutes, hope you enjoy.

The green OM606 powered W123 ran a 13.1 second quarter mile. Thread here:

http://mersuforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14797&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=360

Note how by 5.663 seconds, he's already going 67 mph.
