Removing Arm Rest on an '87 300D
Happy New Year, everyone.
My wonderful wife got me a pair of beautiful sheepskin seat covers for my '87 300D as a Christmas present. We're cleaning up the MB Tex seats before putting the sheepskins on, and I'm stumped as to how to remove the fold down drivers arm rest. If anyone knows how, can you either reply to this post or send me an e-mail? Thanks in advance. Hal |

You'll have to remove the seat back, should be two phillips head screws at the bottom. Once the seat back is off you will find a single 27mm nut retaining the arm rest.

Got it!
Thank you, Mike
I took a closer look and removed the protective plastic cover at the shaft. There are two 13 mm bolts holding the arm rest on to a matching plate inside the seat back. I removed the bolts and the whole thing just slid off. Like most things I've discovered on the Benz, this was a whole lot easier than I expected. Hal |

The armrest on the 1987 300D is mounted differently than what Mike said, which I believe applies for the earlier 300D models.
On your 87, there should be a small plastic cover near where the armrest mounts to the seat. It simply pries off, and will expose two 13mm nuts which hold the armrest to the seat. |

Boy, one year difference and the engineers changed a good thing behind my back . Sounds much easier than the old way of having to pull the seat back off.
