Been a long time but.....
i'm back.
all i can say is if it's not a Benz it's not really a car. i had transmission troubles with my 1986 300sdl (so i didn't visit this forum). then i came across a BMW 525i for a great price. drove the BMW for about 2 months before EVERYTHING went wrong with it. when i say everything i mean everything. anyway, i had to start back driving my 300 and even with a bad transmission that thing rode for 2 months str8. it took me a while to save enough to fix the transmission (which i thought would cost more) but i'll never abandon my "BIG BABY" (300SDL) again. IT'S NOT JUST A CAR, IT'S A MACHINE. PS i got a great deal on a transmission. 500 for a used transmission 500 to put it in another 200 for all my fluids and a belt changed $1200 total

Welcome!
Sound like you got a heluva deal on the tranny. Besides the cost. How did you like the way the 525 drove?

if the 525 had worn out front suspension goodies it could have been "less than enjoyable" to drive...
I know when they are tight they are good...but much like our mercedes, they like their maintenence.. Glad you got a good deal on the tranny setup...back to the diesel |
