Is your car smoother after an oil change?

I know it may well be my imagination, but I swear my car sounds smoother right after an oil change. My friend claims the same for his '84 300D. I will have to see if I can tell how long the feeling lasts, but listening to it idle after the 18 mile drive to work it sounded smooth and quiet.
