Replacing ALDA
I recently bought an ALDA that hasn't been tampered with. I'd like to switch it with the one in my car, as the setscrew has been adjusted quite a ways out and the threads on the setscrew have been painted. Thus I cannot turn the screw CCW or CW without forcing it which I am not willing to do.
Now that I have fixed my overboost protection switch, which was dead, I get better power. My feeling is the ALDA now senses boost and acts accordingly. However I am getting some black smoke. Perhaps the PO didn't know about the overboost switch and just cranked the ALDA willy nilly as a cheap fix. So I'd like to use the unmolested ALDA. Are there any pitfalls to doing this? Will the new ALDA return the pre-boost fuel delivery setting to a 'zero' specification? I'd also like to rebuild the old one if the capsules aren't busted, so I'm wondering where I can get some shims and the two o-rings. Searching has yielded some information, but those threads relating to what I'm talking about just kind of ended with no clear resolution, which is why I am asking the question myself.
