Rick,

You're missing the fourth choice:

What are these "filter" things you guys keep talking about?

OK, I have a guestion for youse guys who change the filters after purging. What do you do with the fuel (actually about 3/4 diesel purge) from the old spin-on filter? Pour it in the new filter or throw it out?

Hey,
Quote:
This purge practice as explained by Brian should have no affect on your filters. You are cleaning cumbustion chambers and not the fuel delivery system.
So, with this in mind wouldn't it make sense to change the filters before purging so as to NOT get black gunk from the filters into the purge fluid?

From my experience with Diesel Purge, it was best to change the filters afterwards. There were bits and pieces floating in the pre-filter after completing the purge.

I always take the old main filter contents and pour it into the new one. Maybe it would be best to pour it into the fuel tank, I don't know.

Of course, changing before and after, borders on a psychological terminology coming to mind.
