preparing to drop SDL tranny...
Has anyone in here actually done it? I know Hattie is also planning to in the near future, so I'm sure he'll find this thread useful as well. I will be dropping the tranny to replace the rear crank seal which is leaking rather severely since I switched to Delvac 1 5k miles ago. I think that it had always been leaking, but not nearly as severe as it is now. Please, I do not want to turn this into a synthetic vs. dyno thread, in fact I plan to keep with the synthetic not only because of the added protection but I hate dropping the bellypan to change the oil every 3k miles.
What else should I replace with the tranny out? People have mentioned the front pump seal, but will it be a radial seal just like the rear main? I don't want to have to take the tranny apart, so I won't replace it if it adds too much more labor. How much time would I be looking at to R&R the tranny? To actually do the seal that shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. Will part of the exhaust have to be undone? Do you guys have any pointers for me? Thanks David
