Accelerator Pedal Question?

On my 82 300TDT I have to push the accelerator pedal down about half way before it starts getting more "gas". I was looking at all the linkage on the engine & didn't notice any adjustment points. Is this normal or can I adjust it somehow? I'm used to my Euro 82 240D that is DIRT SIMPLE compared to this engine!
