Ever hear of Sea Foam?
Has anyone here used an additive called Sea Foam? I found out about it on another diesel site. So far II have used it in the fuel tanks of both vehicles listed in my sig and really like the results. The directions say that it can be added to the engine oil before an oil change. Has anyone been brave enough to do that? I know of someone who did that in a Powerstroke. I am tempted on trying it in my wife’s 300TDT about 40-50 miles before the next oil change, but I wanted to check here first. What do ya’ll think?
Here's a link. Sea Foam Thanks, cmichalik |

Yes. I did a search and only found 11 posts in the "diesel discussion" area. And only one of those made a mention of putting it in the engine oil about 60 miles before an oil change.
So how about it guys (and Gals), does anyone have any good or bad experiances w/ this product? Like I said before. I've used it in hte fuel tanks and like what I see so far. |

My impression of what I have read here and other places was favorable... I have two cans but have not used them on my machines yet...... if ' the warden' has commented on it I would use his view as 'word' LOL...

I did the seafoam in the oil thing. I used it in conjunction with advice from here to pull the plug with the engine hot and let it drain overnight.
I think that frequent oil changes are all that is really necessary in this area. But I am not one of those people who "feels" a 10% increase in power after I change the oil. I filled my fuel filter with seafoam once when I changed the filter. I think that learning to break down your injectors and clean them is all that is necessary in that area. Seafoam is ok but don't expect too much. There is only one real escape from the physical world. |

After seeing what an additive can do to oil here I'm pretty leary of adding anything to the oil.

I use it in my gas vehicles but NOT in the crankcase... I induce it via the vac line into the motor to burn off carbon deposits in the head(s). Works pretty nice. It's a good easy to obtain top end cleaner. Makes for a nice smoke show too.

HI Joat. Good to see you over here!! Thanks for the replies. From everything I've learned here I think I'll stick to putting it in the fuel. That oil demo link is kinda scary. I would like to know what ol' KD's oil looked like when he drained it.
Thanks for all the good info and opinions. Hey Joat. How's the car search going? I've recently been seeing some mods on here that are throwbacks of a few PSD mods. I've seen a raod draft tube and a Tymar style air filter set up. Later C |
