Fuse chart mis-print or assembly error??? What size fuse??
On a 1995 124 chassis (mine is a E300D)
Could anyone please check to see what size (8 or 16 amp) fuse is required for the circuit controlling the climate control system / heater water valve / AC compressor, etc? But NOT what is written on the fuse chart – what is ACTUALLY in your car’s fuse box. The long explanation why I’m asking this: My car has recently been blowing fuse #6 intermittently. When fuse #6 pops, the climate control system & blower fan ceases to operate, and the hot water valve (mono-valve) opens (which it should when it does not receive power.) The blown fuse is an 8 amp, and that is what I’ve been replacing it with. Now here’s the rub: According to the card on the fuse box lid, fuse #7 (NOT #6) should be controlling the climate control system / heating water valve / AC compressor clutch (& various other items). Fuse #6, the one that's popping, should control the turn signals, horn, & outside temperature gauge, NOT the climate control system. I checked the devices on the other circuit by pulling fuse 7, and it appears that the functions for fuse/circuits 6 & 7 have been reversed – perhaps an error during assembly at the factory, or perhaps a mis-print of the fuse chart itself. Either way, in my car there is a 16-amp fuse in controlling the low-demand circuit (turn signals, horn & outside temp gauge). There is an 8-amp fuse controlling the climate control system. It would seem logical to just go ahead & switch the fuses, but I certainly don’t want to cause a meltdown, so that is why I am asking for help by having someone look to see how their car is set up. I should mention that the fuse chart (part #124 545 22 00) states at the bottom: “outside fuse box: blower motor”, but I don’t know if it means the radiator fan, or the HVAC blower. If it IS the HVAC blower, then it would appear that it receives it’s juice from a relay instead of directly through the fuse (6 or 7?) circuit, and that would logically reduce the load to where that circuit may only require an 8-amp fuse. Boy, I wished that I had a wiring diagram for this car… Thanks in advance for your help!

If Im not mistaken dont the 124's have a strip fuse for the blower motor right in front of the fuse box like a 126 does? That could be what the diagram means. Check that strip fuse, its covered by a little black piece of plastic clipped over it with a 123 part number on it (i think)
