300D 2.5 turbo: Reliability
Can anyone comment on the reliability of the 6 cylinder engine in this model?
Im quite familiar with the other service and maintanence issues for the 124. |

Only the 87' model 300D had the 6 cyl 3.0L OM603.
The later 300D's have the 2.5L turbo 5-cylinder OM602. You have no doubt seen the MANY pages here about the OM603's cracking heads on older castings. However, I have never seen anything bad about the OM602 (In the 190D or the 300D). Go for it. I would not buy one, but that's just me. |

Hands down the best diesel engine Mercedes has ever made, in the best chassis period, I have driven over 300k miles in these cars, just excellent, by the way I have owned or currently own just about every modern diesel mercedes has ever made, 79-05
