300TD non turbo wierd shifting problem
I posted a few days ago saying that my 1980 300TD was starting in first gear. I was wrong. It actaully does start in 1st, but it only stays in second gear for 1 second or less and jumps to 3dr. I have learned how to shift it manually with the gear selector so that it stays in first and then in second and then in 3rd. I have to go from L to S to L to S to D. The transmission feels solid when it does shift though. Would the vacuum modulator on the transmission cause this?
