240D auto tranny vacuum line question...
Sorry for the newbie question, but i was wondering if anyone can tell me what the black vacuum line going to the tranny is supposed to connect to?(At the transmission) I just got this car and its been thru hell and back, and someone has changed/omitted a whole lot of vacuum lines. There is currently a rubber hose looking thing coming out of the tranny that the vacuum line was attached to. (at least the part of the line that was not cut...)
Its a mess, but with a little help i'm hoping to get this car on the road again. thanks, greg Last edited by greg273; 05-10-2005 at 11:06 PM. Reason: typo |

Awesome pictures! Very informative! My car seems to be missing the linkage piece in the foreground, the one that runs away from the main throttle linkage package. (actually, there are several linkage pieces i've found disassembled on the floorboards in the backseat!). What is its function?
Also, i cant find any sort of bowden cable or anything besides the one vacuum line that connects to the transmission. Is that also an error or is it supposed to be like that? I've acquired some vacuum lines from a junked 240D, and have installed them according to the diagram posted on the forum. Thanks, by the way. The car starts on the first crank usually, and runs smooth, except when driving it feels like it has no idea when to shift correctly. The shifts come way too soon and way too soft. It never has a chance to get any sort of power (except in reverse!). |

dmorrison, how did you get everything looking so new? I've spent some time lately cleaning up my SDL's engine and it looks really good but all your brass lines and fittings look new. Also, the aluminum pieces don't have the cloudy look mine does.
Thanks David
