W123 Smokes A Ford 6.0 Powerstroke!!!!!!!!!

was driving to work this morning at about 0515 and, coming north out of Napa on SR 29, passed my buddy who owns a 2003 Ford Crewcab 6.0 Powerstroke (which I talked him in to buying a few years back).

If you have ever had a Ford 4X4, especially the newer ones following you, you know how annoying those headlights are in your mirrors.

My buddy ( who's name is Kennedy) with the 03 Crewcab got in behind me and we were both going about 60 mph (the speed limit) and I would gently ease into the throttle from time to time ( just enough for a light cloud from the exhaust). We kept bumping up the speed to about 68 mph and then I decided to have some fun, I dropped the hammer, speed never really increased, but the smoke cloud that came out the back completely blackened out those headlights for a second or two

I met him at the daily sign-in for work and he kept asking me what happenned, as he had never seen anything like that before, he was concerned for my Benz.........

I told him that he had just witnessed

RAW MB HORSEPOWER

and that, as long as we were both employed there, HE would have to deal with it

Those trucks are pretty quick. I tried to pass my dads friend on the highway, we were playing a bit. He has an 04 F150 with the bigger V8. My SDL actually did pretty good if my dad didn't make me back off I would have passed him. I figured Ford probably made the cut off kick on around 95 or so so I would have passed him.

My buddy has an '04 6.0 Powerjoke, it's dang quick. Mostly owing to the VNT turbo. I don't really see how a W123 can outrun one... unless you are hiding a superturbo from us....

Well, Hattie has the W126, but with 150 hp, he's not outrunning any Powerstroke any time soon.

I tried to keep up with an '01 from a standing start up to 60 mph. Not a chance.

I notice that the Cummins 24 and the Powerstroke 6.0 get lethargic on the highway. Of course when the power is achieved at such a low engine speed in these long stroke diesels, it doesn't make for a flexible power curve with many short gears.

Blow them up, however, and be amazed. But that's what Myna Diesel is for.

My friend had a Cummins 24 3/4 ton xtd cab long bed that his father bought him(oh, how nice ). He drove like an a** and claims he hit 110 mph with it.

It is my belief, however that all newer trucks are limited to 100 mph. I believe in blissfull ignorance, for anything over 100 in a truck body is knocking at Death's door.

Seriously, you may want to take a look at your injectors, IP timing, ALDA, etc. If I step on mine at 70 mph, it just accelerates (with very little visible smoke).
