OM606 - cold idling problem - ideas?
Hi
my E300D 1995 starts first turn but then has to be nursed with the throttle to keep running until warm. Once warm no problems whatever , runs like a dream and restarts great. I have been pursuing this issue for a while reading various posts but still not solved. I have eliminated the following as causes: OVP (monitored outputs whilst idling- AOK) air in the fuel line (would be difficult to start which its not) air intake / EGR / resonance flaps (all cleaned and working ok) glow plugs (all tested, no warning lights and in any case starts easily which it wouldnt if a glow was down) Anyone have any further ideas as to what I should try next, dont forget its cold idling that is the problem not starting. Help appreciated Keith

Long shot, but...
Have a look at this thread. I posted in the middle regarding my "lift pump".
M606 starts first time then immediately stops I know your car starts fine, then has trouble. My car started fine, but started dieing after a few minutes. Once it was fully warm it ran fine and started fine. I have not had any problems since I changed this pump, which is relatively easy once you take the intake manifold off. Good luck, Chris W.
