vaccum pump check valves

I had pressure coming from the pump going into the air cleaner, not vaccum, I was checking the check valves and they popped out. Which way do they go back in?

you must have an older car where the vac pump vents to the air cleaner. On the newer ones it vents into the crank case, but there should be a line into yours thats the vacuum end. About the check valve, it's been a long time , so I don't remember from my old one where they go.
P.S. Used to live up near Montana De Oro, nice up there....

One should be sucking air (the big black one?) and the other blowing it into the aircleaner (whitish one ?)
