Ive worked on cars before, minimal work, but never a diesel, so i ask LOTS of questions, because its a lot diffrent as far as im concerned. So, when you see these "stupid" people, maybe you should think about it diffrently.
this is what you should do, and it's how some of us who have been there can help. Before I built my own house, I began a "stupid question asking campaign" that lasted for 2-3 YEARS before I actually started. The results of how this method worked will stand proudly for many years after I'm gone. Remember, ignorance can be fixed, stupid is forever.

thats what i have been doing, and i always leave the "please no mean replys" line in there. Cause i know some of the questions im asking are stupid to people who know about MB. I got mine with a lawsuit that I won, and ill be honest, it was pretty and i wanted it. Ive abused it for 2 + years, and now i need to shape up and take care of it. I also am afraid to screw up, cause I know i cant afford to take it in to get my mistakes fixed. Im still aprehensive about doing an oil change. But yeah, Ill get to it, and when I do Ill be secure in my thoughts that I can do it, because I know EVERY single detail.
(i dont only post stupid questions, i search the internet, i call mechanics, i talk to the people in the auto parts shops).

I never said anything about stupid questions. I don't think there are any stupid questions. I would rather read and answer 100 threads about "how do I change my oil" rather than "my color is better than yours" or "do you think my car is shiny enough" or "boohoo am I paying too much for someone to change my oil"

bought wireless to bring my laptop in the garage

i love this forum.

i bought a wireless internet router so i could use my laptop in the garage. computer usually rests on a towel in the engine bay - it is worth almost as much as the car.

Lightbulb A dumb question is the one that has the answer you needed but went unasked

... Am I wrong here for feeling like these guys are pathetic? I am nowhere near the ability of others on this board but at least I try. I realize people come to this board for different reasons. I just don't know how to feel about it.
I am a new MB owner who knows basically nothing about cars and even less about diesels (& am unsure of what the other board is that you are referring to), but since coming to this forum (which I was fortunate enuff to find out about @ the same time I got the car) my understanding is increasing steadily due to the unselfishness of the members here.

I needed the same oil change info when I came here and wound up in JiffyLube ( or someplace like it) with a complimentary oil change coupon. I had to run out with the car on the rack to buy the correct oil in the correct amount! The shopowner didn't have the basic information that you expected the newbie to have.

I found that info @ this forum and also other diesel discussions on the net. A lot of information that we need is MB or diesel specific and sometimes you have to open the hood to get a mechanicto understand that you really don't have spark plugs! I have a thread going right now on this board about a Blower Motor Regulator that is saving me over a $thousand in unnecessary repair costs. I can't wait until I am knowlegeable enuff to return these favors.

Meanwhile, I have the repair manuals (which I heard about right here!) and am trying to do my part to increase my own knowledge. But it's a great stress reliever to know there is some where you can go to get more information &/or an informed opinion.

$3,852 for just the cars is my guess.

Is the Imp registered and street legal? Ha Ha
As a matter of fact it is registered and it is street legal.

I've been coming to this forum for 3 years now. I have a beater wagon and It wouldn't be running if it weren't for these guys. I enjoy dropping by just to read the latest thread and catch up on what's new. I ask stupid questions(or shall I say, unexperienced questions) and some that most don't even want to touch this a 10 foot pole, but someone always ends up giving some help. Much appreciated help! As far as I'm concerned I don't even go to other sites because all the answers to my questions have been here. Shiney rims, huh, mine are etched in break dust !

It's common knowledge that the diesel list at MBZ.org is more of a ladies sewing circle than a tech list. There was an attempt to start a dieseltech list at MBZ.org but people seem to prefer to gossip than exchange useful info on diesels. It's wierd that the 108 and SL lists do exchange good info but the diesel list somehow got infested with some real flakes....
