What does a "proper" shift boot for a 240D look like ? My busted one looks like leatherette with seams in it. I just ordered one and got a one piece rubber boot. It doesn't seems right. But is that what is available now ?

If you got the Meyle one, it'll last a month (or less) before it tears and rips holes in itself. If the rubber looks like it is flaking apart and like the un-finished side of cowhide, send it back. There was a big run of them made of "rubber" that were pure crap. Yeah, they're cheap, but man are they garbage.
Not sure where to get a quality boot, even the dealer will order the meyle part and get the garbage ones. Hell, I ordered ball joints from the dealer here and they gave me TRW!

I got one from the dealer about five or six years ago when I converted mine to a manual. It is leather or vinyl, four sections, four seams and has lasted just fine so far.

Mine is a Meyle, rubber 1 piece , I got 2 years ago. It's serviceable but not luxurious.
