Unhappy I am depressed, and need support

I figure only you folks will understand why I am so blue today.
On the way to work I followed a flatbed loaded with a 80's something 240D
It made a turn into the crushing , scrap metal yard.
The body still had the proud nameplates, star, tail and front lenses.
I could not tell about the interior or engine, it had no wheels and rested on the frame. I wanted to stop and get out my trusted tool kit and take as many "donations" as possible to allow the car to live on in another way.
I did not, and feel bad ever since.
I may never be the same

I know your sick feeling The thumbnail below is a MB I have been watching for 18 months. It keeps moving closer to the building - it's now up front. Tried to inquire but it's like nobody works there - no phone#, no name.
Sad - One day I will drive by and it will be gone

keep trying, maybe you'll get it. I once was watching a 66 Chrysler 300 and finally inquired and found the owner. I asked "would you take $50 or $75 for the car?" He said "How about $50?" - It was one of the best cars I ever had.

I keep looking trying to find someone. Think it's a dismantler shop. Don't even know what model MB it is - never could see the trunk.

It's a Euro- model for sure - check out the lights and headlight wipers. There is a place here that has MBs from the 50's on up. I have watched many of them show up in not too bad of shape and then just decline over the months. Some have been moved to a junkyard (and I do mean junkyard) next door. There are several Unimogs and at least two MB motorhomes. Many 116s and 123s, a couple of 107s..........

I take it back - the bumpers don't appear to be Euro. The sad thing is that you know someone loved these cars at one time. Anyone that would change out the original lights with Euros must have cared very much at one time. I get the same feeling when I see commercial aircraft scrapped. It is almost like of****** an old relative because they are not useful anymore.
The only thing that upsets me more is to see someone buy a great MB and then just drive it into the ground - knowing you would like to call social services on them for "child abuse" !

Don't worry it will come back as a Honda!

I remember when they dragged my stripped 420SEL up on the flat bed. My W126 is enjoying the parts from that one, I don't really have a problem with my car feeding off dieing W126's.

Maybe it's just me, there are somedays with these old beasts when I'd like to drop it in the crusher myself and pull the damn lever!

Kind of reminds me of The Matrix, liquefying the dead to feed the next generation...

It makes me sad to see any "usable" junk just sitting and rusting away. I have used parts and pieces off of everything from commercial coffee pots to refrigerators to old dustbusters for my various projects. Everytime I see something sitting out in the weeds I wish I could bring it home and make something out of its parts. God help me when I can move out in the country and have space for junk piles...

Along that line of thought if I lived out in the country I would deffinitly have a shooting car! Most likely a W126.

If a progect was annoying me I could pump a few rounds into the shooting car!

My saddest one was seeing a '60 190SL rot in a field and then get hauled off to get crushed. I actually took a look at it with the thought of doing a restro on it but the floor pans were gone (rusted through) and I did not pursue it. One day I rode by the field where it was sitting and all the cars that had been out there were gone.

Thanks everyone, misery loves company.
I may try to drive by the crusher tonight, see if I can get some parts or most likely pay respects to the leftover "cube"
