bypassing overboost sensor

I elected to bypass the overboost sensor on my 84 TDT this afternoon on a whim. cannot tell much difference in terms of performance. Then I got to thinking that a wastegated turbo, is also a overboost protection, so why the redundency of a overboost sensor? may be I dont have enough boost going on to make it to the enrichment circut? Just curious, as I have plenty of other projects to do on this car before playing with the engine...

Wastegate hoses fail...particularly when they are as old as many of these.....its a failsafe protection and the Garret t-3 WILL give over 20 psi boost when that hose fails....and will do it without warning.

My 240D never had one. But instead of the overboost valve, I'm installing a boost gauge to monitor the pressure. I can't imagine you are going to hurt much of anything running 20 psi, maybe you'll see your EGTs rise a bit. Without fuel for all the extra hot air, that's all it'll be.

Well it will go to 20 psi with your foot barely down and the car going less than 20......Mine spiked to that before I got the boost controller set right....I had no intention to find out how high it would go......but it is definately something more than 20 psi and maybe not just a little ..
