Nice 123 for my Son's Graduation:

Found my 18 year old son a nice 123 for graduation. It is a 240D with Euro Lights, 5 Speed and roll up windows without a sunroof.

Price was $200.00 and it runs very well. Only problems so far are some oil leaks and a lot of thick, black smoke.

I'll post some photos soon...Bert

I bought it from a local service station owner who bought it for his kid and the boy didn't really like the car. The smoke issue was just the icing on the cake. The body is straight and the car is clean. I think it has potential.

The first time my son saw it he said, Dad...can you put a 617.950 like the one in your 116 in there for me?"

Oh boy...here we go again...Bert

Nice... I think I'd actually rather have a 240D with a manual tranny (4 or 5 speed) than my 300D auto. 'Course I'd have to learn stick. But merging on the highway sounds scary in one of those

If worse comes to worse at least you've got a five speed in there..

Thumbs up

I'd drive a 240D about town, I dunno about the freeway...

Good for you. That's a good, safe, practical car for a teenager. Quite a price, too.

In CA a 240d is fine. I drove mine down the 5 to LA and Las Vegas a few times, it's great to park in the cities and at 200 bucks if it gets a few dings there's nothign to worry about.

It is really in good shape, just dirty from sitting. It is also clearly a Euro Car which my son thinks is cool too.

I will likely do the engine and advance the camshaft and injektion pump timing the same way I did my 300SD. I will probably also tweak the aneroid cell a little for better performance.

I think its going to make him a safe, practical car.

Anyone see a 240D optioned like this one??? 5 speed, rollup windows, euro lights and no sun roof???...Bert
