Thumbs up 617 lower alt bolt?

Can anyone give me some info what size this bolt is supposed to be?

Length, pitch of threads, and size of head? When I pulled mine out I found the nut was cross threaded on a "bolt"... it was two bolts welded together then ground down to fit!

I think it was a 13mm but hell at this point who knows. Amazing I tell you.

Thanks for any help.

Thumbs up

The lower bolt is preventing me from getting the alt seated properly (seems to sit upa bit) as one end is visually larger than the other not to mention cross threaded.

Would my local dealer stock that part by chance or special order?

Park Place Mid-Cities would probably have to order it. (More than likely it would come from their dealership in Dallas) Sometimes you can find what you need at Elliot's Hardware in Grapevine. For some reason, there are other stores that carry the correct grade and size of bolt but the thread count is wrong.

Thumbs up

I found someone parting another SD, I'll hit them up to see if I can nab theirs. If no dice, off the PP I go.

bolt

these bolts are a wear item. they tend to get very odd shaped where the alternator sits on them. i wouldnt bother with a used one. they are about $3 or so i bet. any mb parts house would be able to get them as quickly as the dealer or nearly so.
