My new car, to go with my new account

I've been looking for a benz for some time now, but could never find one that did't require too much work for the price. BUT, the other day, my business partner's fiancee's mother (3 times fast, please) busted out a 1983 300d that she had in her garage (?) and put it out at the street with a sticker for $1200. Well, I asked her if she'd take a couple payments for it, and she not only agreed, but because it was me, she sold it to me for $600! The only problems I've picked up from driving it home are the following : vacuum leak (won't shut down with the key, but IP cutoff works fine when vacuum applied to it manually), slight fuel leak in the braided line, and the throttle linkage is messed up (I'm thinking return spring). It has brand new tires (I guess only 500 miles). She told me she put it away because there were too many problems with it and she was simply tired of dealing with it. I'll deal with that deal any day! Body and interior are like brand new (for having 210k!). Just ordered a detachable hood star (I'm not wasting $40 on a stationary one for some kid to show his friends!) I'm stoked!

You might have started something. Once I had my first one, I couldn't go back. Working on number 5 now since 93.

Fixed the gas leak, lubed the throttle assembly, fixed the rubber guards on both bumpers, reapplied the trunk star. I was excited to find the trunk star and the wood stips for thedash in teh glove compartment. That will save me some searching/spending. Tommorrow I will be taking a look at the front brakes: nasty grinding sound from the front end, epecially noted around turns. Hopefully I won't need wheel bearings. This car is fun to work on, and parts seem to be fairly easy to find at more than decent prices. Right now, I'm driving a 1990 grand am, and no matter what I do, it just falls apart. The POS only has 93k on it! This Benz has 2.5X that and it is way better. I wonder if it's because its domestic or if people already quit giving a s**t in the 90's?
