W210 1998 E300DT Glow Plug Heater Error
Hello all,
I have said car above and have the Glow plug heater error after startup and the pre-heater light stays on. I have read every posting here on the topic. It seems that It is time to change the glow plugs and hope they all come out!! I will do some basic diagnostics and measure resistence on plugs before taking manifold off. The car has 160K and has been trouble free until recently. It has a fuel line leak as well. Looks like I will be able to do plugs and replace the fuell lines at the same time. I have lightman's and sokoloft's posts and one or two others. Thanks for the information. It is invaluable. My questions: 1) Any tricks for loosening the plugs? The posts have reccomended PB Blaster and vinegar. Anything else? Any special Sockets? 2) Anyone have a reamer they would like to sell me or rent me? 3) Is there anything alse not covered by earlier posts? I will be happy to take some pictures and contribute to forum. 4) Is there a relay? IF so, where? I would like to check before starting job. I am out of town at the monent and will not be able to start the job until Sunday. Thanks, |

Hi
Heater plug relay is beside your abs pump thing just in front of it. Hopefully you will not need the reamer. McCool300TD

Lightman,
Thanks again for your post. My problem was the glow plugs and your post was a great help. |

I just went through this as well. I got very hung up on the cleaning of the manifold and EGR valve. Other than that the job was pretty straight forward, thanks to the posted instructions. Jim
