Ignition Lock & struts
More stuff breaking on my Benz. Now the key is getting hard to turn. I understand this is a common problem and it is important to change out the lock before it breaks since then its a lot harder. My question is, how can I get a lock with the same key so I won't need 2 keys to open the doors and start it? I checked my keys and there are no numbers on them.
Now to the struts, or shocks. I noticed a creaking sound on the front end, jacked it up and figured out it was one of the shocks, makes kind of a loud clicking noise as it moves. It's not leaking but I plan to replace them both with Bilsteins anyway. I see Autozone can get Bilsteins, $119.00 for what they call "smooth ride", $139.00 for "heavy duty ride" and $199.00 for "sport ride". Can I compress the springs with a big piece of all thread and some steel plates? Looks like it would fit right thru the holes at the top and bottom of the spring perches. By the way, I got a new set of Michelin Touring tires. It made a HUGE difference in the ride from the Pirelli sport tires, no more jarring on the bumps. However the car does not look as sporty now. Thanks for any help,
