124 steering wheel stuck
I recently R&R'd the dash on my '87 300D to replace the six vacuum pods that control the heating/AC vents. Information about the job starts with the removal of the steering wheel. Wasn't able to remove the bolt holding the steering wheel on, even using an impact hammer. Found that leaving the steering wheel in place didn't hamper dash removal. Once loosened (after six hours) the dash slid out the passenger door. Would like to thank GSXR for providing photos, information and inspiration to tackle this ornery job. AC is better through the center vent.

I did the same job and I didn't remove it either, I didn't want to deal with the airbag I found that one of the hardest things in the whole job was removing the dash off the defrost vent grommets and then getting it back in when putting the dash back, what a PITA. But am very happy with the results
