Question electricity gremlins in 87 300D

Hi there,

Just got a call from my mother in law. She has some gremlins in the new car she got and I'm trying to remotely trouble shoot it.

The radio, clock and the cluster light don't operate when the door is closed.
If she keeps the door open all the above instruments work. I have no idea where to start this investigation of a car that is 100 miles away.

Any advice is welcome
Thanks,
Yossi

Check operation of the power seat when the door is open. If it doesn't work with the door open, I think the power seat diode is at fault. Fastlane refers to it as a "contact bridge". It's in the rear of the fusebox, and you'll need to remove several philips screws to remove the top part of the fusebox frame to get to it. The new style is grey, and the old ones are black.

It is not the "contact bridge"

I checked in with her, the power seat moves with the door open. Any other advise ?

Thanks,
Yossi
