bad primer pump?

im wondering about replcing my primer pump as i have seen people reference doing. it seemed to work fine before i had a total system drain out, now i pull up, nothing, no resistance nothing, push down, nothing. i also saw someone write that these old primer pumps can be a source of air into the system?? i dunno. but if anyone has any suggestions on finding one and installing it please let me know. its weird, like it isnt primed or something....

Primer pump

Hey Jack: Hate to tell you this, but there has been so much written on these pages about that failing primer pump that there is nothing left to say. Even pictures would be redundant. Go to the top of the page, double click the "Search" label and type in p r i m e r p u m p. You'll find much worth reading there and even pictures of the new pump and how to replace it.

"If it was easy everybody would do it!"

Apparently you can get them at NAPA or Fastlane or just about anywhere else you can think of. They are around $20. You should replace the old one as a matter of course because the old ones fail and introduce air into the fuel after 20 years.
