Biocide? Check my math

I got some Racor Biocide today, and am trying to figure out how much to use for 5 gallons.

1 ounce [US, liquid] = 29.5735297 cubic centimeter

1 oz to 80 gallons = 30 cc's (29.57)

1/4 oz to 20 gallons = 7.5 cc's

1.88 cc's for 5 gallons

Sure does not seem like much biocide for 5 gallons.
Do these figures look correct?

If the requirement is for 1 oz in 80 gallons, I get 1.85 cc in 5 gallons (close enough). That must be concentrated stuff.

If you're using it in your fuel tank it's best to use it with a full tank so Biocide is able to cover whole tank...It only reaches what is filled...
1/2 tank= 1/2 coverage....
Any fungus that is above 5 gallon won't get treated....

I have a 55 gal. drum of old #2 diesel that I am double filtering into 5 gallon jerry cans. I do not want to dump it in my car without treating it first, just in case it may have bugs in the fuel.
One good thing about diesel is it will last for many years, if capped. This fuel is only about 20 years old, the original diesel, before the new formulas we have now. Wish I had more, but that's all. It is (was) for my standby generator.

Shock it.

I use 1 ounce [US, liquid] = 29.5735297 cubic centimeter of BIOBOR for a full tank of diesel = shock it.

No problems caused by shocking the tank.

No doubt it varies from brand to brand, but some brands have a caution about overdosing. Sez it causes formation of solids.

I wouldn't deviate too far from the instructions.

The formation of solids = massive kill = plugged filter.
I would rather change the fuel filter a dozen times than pull the fuel tank for cleaning even once.
Shocking a contaminated diesel fuel tank will definitely cause all the growth to die = a very good thing.
My secondary fuel filter will be changed within two days, it is loaded with dead sludge, the tank has been shocked three times in six months = total filter life of current cartridge will have been seven months.
I keep my fuel tank full, pure fresh vegetable oil or diesel.

Thanx for the replies!
I'll put 2 cc's in a 5 gal. can and wait a coulple of days and see what is going on.
Does Racor Biocide break down after putting it in diesel,(like become inert) or does it still keep on going looking for more bugs?
The data sheet does not say.
I want to be on the safe side using this stuff.

Sorry, I must disagree.

I am looking at a bottle of Biobor JF. The stated "shock treatment" dosage is 1 oz per 40 gallons. Maintenance dosage is 1 oz per 80 gallons. Therefore 1 oz per tank is double the recommended shock dosage or 4 times the recommended maintenance dosage. This product, although it doesn't have a skull and crossbones on it, is a highly concentrated pesticide and should not be used improperly.

Just my 2 cents worth, but also just common sense.

If the spec says to tighten a bolt to a torque spec of 50, we wouldn't take it upon ourselves to tighten it to 120 would we?
