87 300D Steering Box Seal
The seal around the spline that the Pitman Arm connects to blew the other day as I was driving up my street. Lucky it wasn't on the highway. I ordered the part from the dealer. Looks like a straight forward repair. Remove the Pitman Arm, take out the old seal, Replace the seal, Reinstall the Pitman Arm.
Am I missing anything? Joe

No response from any members, so, I unbolted the pitman arm, and the steering components that were attached. I did not press them out however. Then took off the snap rings and used a puller to remove the pitman arm. One more snap ring and the old seal was exposed. This seal has a metal ring under the rubber for support. Got the old seal and ring out and pressed the new one in till it steated. Replaced the snap ring, pitman arm and last snap ring, and bolted the steering parts. Filled with fluid, turned wheel from stop to stop to bleed, filled again and took for a test drive.
NO LEAKS!!! Joe
