Diesel purge doesn't kill cars...
People kill cars.

Why bother with DP? Run some B100. It'll probably clean everything out.

Biodiesel does clean

I've just started running about B25 in my car and it does seem to run smoother. ..definately less smoke. I'm going to try and run B50 for a while. My understanding is you shouldn't run over B35 for any length of time because it will eat the natural rubber in fuel lines...and input here?

Just run whatever you want to run. When a hose starts weeping or leaking, replace it.

All you have to do is everyone once and awhile, take a look at them and make sure they are okay. I run mixed biodiesel blends and have had no problems.

I have used DP twice on the '87 300TD and once on the '84. I certainly agree with Brian about nothing to worry about. Why spend more money to fix something that isn't broken? So far, neither vehicle even burped after doing the purge correctly.

There have NEVER been natural rubber fuel lines in petrol or diesel engined vehicled.
They use Nitrile Rubber, which is affected by ULSD and Biodiesel.

As has been said before, preventative maintenance at oil / filter changes should include inspecting all hoses and fluid levels. Any cracked or weeping hoses should be replaced as a preventative measure.

personally

i have driven a lot of diesels a lot of miles and the only thing i put in my fuel is injection cleaner, fungicide, and some marvel mystery oil from time to time. more often in the winter.

i honestly doubt the value of any of it but it makes me feel good to do something for the faithful diesels.

the main thing is clean fuel and clean filters.

Darn marvel mystery oil is one of a few additives that are proven to work in studies conducted by the US government not the manufacturer. Now you let the cat out of the bag my $50 a bottle orders are going to tank, there goes my new Mercedes for Christmas. Oh well at least you can feel good about using it because it does do some good for your engine.
