Diesel purge killed my car?

I just changed the fuel filters, ran diesel purge, and now my car won't even start. I'm sure I missed a step somewhere. I replaced the large fuel filter and the in-line fuel filter. Then I ran the line from the in-line filter to my jar of purge. I ran the return line from the large filter back into the jar. I started the car (with both filters dry, is that where I screwed up?) and it ran for about 2 seconds then slowly died. I noticed that more than half the diesel purge is missing from the jar. I removed the jar, replaced the fuel lines the way they were and when I cranked it again it fired a few times but wouldn't run. Now it doesn't even fire when I crank it.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?
