1983 300d

I recently acquired a 1983 300D and was very happy with the driving...until it statred to make a weird "BZZZ" noise when driving. As I was closer to home the noise turned into a "CLANK..scraping...CLANK". I had the windows down so I could hear clearly. I pulled over looked underneath the car and did not see anything hanging. I drove home and parked it.
The noise is coming from the right rear tire area.
I am afraid to drive it, unless I have some sort of idea. I spent about three hours researching this last night on this website, it may be the brakes, differential, wheel bearing. I like to know what to say to the mechanic or when I call my Dad.

Weird

Sounds weird,

Maybe bad wheel bearings or oddly enough a pin came out of the brake caliper causing the pad to slap and rub constantly.

Its not anything too major I don't think, just take it in if your shop is close and see what they say.

Also, just to be safe check to make sure that all your lug nuts are secure. You never know.

Good Luck

Ryan

Parts would've run you right around $50 if you were going to fix this yourself.
