Mine looks like yours...wondering if PO lost the plastic spring clip when changing fluids and didn't bother to get another...just bought a used pump from a junkyard for $50. will open reservoir tomorrow and see what it looks like and compare.

That metal spring clip is a lock ring, there were different styles.

Here's a pic of the "other" style, with the metal clip. Just wiggle that clip back and forth and the force of the spring will push it off.

1983 Mercedes 380SL Power Steering pump part

Took off cover for the power steering pump to change out filter for my 83 Mercedes 380SL and to my surprise the plastic spring retainer and 10mm nut was missing. Does anyone have one to sell or where to get one as I could not find one (probably calling it my an incorrect name)
