Dash guages and turn signals.

Depends what year / model the car is, I suppose.

Also, I know the turn signals are linked to the hazard switch. If the hazard switch is sticky, or broken.. your turn signals will act rather funky. As for the gauges? The speedometer on the W123's is mechanical, controlled by a cable. The oil pressure gauge is also mechanical, with an oil line going to the back of it. The fuel level isn't on a relay, I don't think.. and goes to the sending unit in the tank. If you have a clock.. well, that just gets power. As for the tach (if you have one).. Um.. I'm not sure.. never really got a good look at the tach.

Best of luck to you.. whatever the problem may be.

When cold, the key will not activate anything but the starter motor and srs light. Turning the key back and forth 20 to 40 times and i may get everthing to turn normal...all lights, gp..etc...then all is well until the next morning.

I have the non tumbler portion of the ignition switch on order but I am replacing blind as I have not pinpointed the problem.

That's what I was thinking your problem was - the ignition switch

I hope it is. The darn locks and interior lights not working turned out to be another issue. Coincidence or are the diesel gods angry at me for trying to go kero?

According to my CD,

as of MY 1986, Diesel

Power Distribution
Fuse #2
Warning System, Warning Indicators
Clock
Illumination Instrument Cluster, Center Console
Power Seats
Turn Signal/Hazard
Courtesy Lamps

Fuse #7
Thru glow/starter switch
Horns
Turn signals/hazard lamps
Warning Indicators

Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps diagram

Fuse #2 & #7 protect power to the "ON" and "OFF" sides of the Hazard switch.

Fuse #7 protects the normal turn signals and dash indicators, and routes power through the combination switch (turn stalk) and the appropriates lamps to ground.

Fuse #2 protect the hazards, by-passing the combination switch.

No relay that I can see.

It sounds like either fuse #7 or a switch contact on the glow/start switch has an intermittent problem.
