What should I soak rusty injectors in?
1982 300D
What would be a good thing to soak my rusty injectors in so they look a little better externally? I know, it's what's inside that counts, but I'd sure like to cut down on the amount of brown-red in my engine bay. Thanks, Pete. |

why dont you just
spray them with rust binder? it will turn black and semi glossy. then you dont need to remove them.

I want to be careful about using any rust type product, so that if I ever end up sending the injectors to Colorado Biodiesel, they can still be cleaned to bare metal and plated. If I use any rust-conversion type product, it might be more difficult for Tom to restore (my guess anyways).
I just want to clean them up a bit, without hurting them internally as BHD says. Anything that can accomplish both? Thanks, Pete. |

I polish them up on a wire wheel....look fine after.
Hey...wadder I know ? If'n ya got 'em apart, use a oil gallery brush and diesel . Just don't be polishing the pintal needle and bore. .

Clean them using electroylsis, I've done many different items. The result is great and it only will effect rust.
