broke off key in ignition

Does anyone know how to remove it? This happened to my wife. She has a BMW 325ci. Any help is greatly appreciated. All but a 1/4 of an inch is in the ignition. I'm afraid that I may have to buy a new ignition switch. Ouch. Thanks for any help. I know that this is a BMW but, this board is the best.

I've never tried this but maybe you could put a tiny dab of super glue on what you have left of the key, insert it into the ignition and maybe it will stick to that tiny piece in there. Of course if any super glue gets into the ignition that could be a real mess. You could always use dynomite.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

Experienced locksmith

Can tease it out with couple of picks. This happened to my jeep, Fortunately it broke in such a way that the tumbler still worked, so I was able to drive over to the locksmiths place, he only charged me $15.00 for the service + two keys. It only took him 30 seconds to remove it.

A week later the key broke off again, and its still like that today 5 years later.

I thought about a magnet, but I think the key is brass.
