I like the W210 as well, however the perfect car for me would be a 95 E300TD! But,, i cant really say much about the W210 since I never been driving in one! Where I live, I see lots of W210s with rust ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My '99 E300 does lay down a smoke screen at night, when I give Vollgas. It is pleasing in an aesthetic way, but is it a sign of woe? The car has 121,000 miles and I have owned it for ten months, with the normal travail: fuel lines and all that. Rust does not appear to be one of them with the notorious Federteller/spring perch, as the car lived its life in New Mexico before coming here to California. I bought an excellent book in Germany of details of diesel W210 cars: Dieter Korp, Jetzt helfe ich mir selbst, E Klasse, Dieselmodelle 2001 Motorbuchverlag. It is quite informative and helpful. My E300 doesn't smoke much, just a little when at WOT. I drive 90 miles a day and at least once a week go ahead and give it an Italian tune up. I have been using an additive at fill up and don't know if it helps or not, but it sure seems smoother. On another note, I changed oil the other day and put in Rotella synthetic 5-40, I let it drain all night and then put it in. The dipstick is still not black at 1300 miles, did I do something wrong? Has anyone ran some cleaner through the pan to clean it out after they drain the oil? A guy I work with that has worked on a lot of equipment said he has used JP5 jet fuel to clean out an engine. I was thinking about putting a pint down the dipstick tube and letting it cut the gunk in the pan. Any answers?
Thanks
