The Krylon overhaul.....

That swap would be illegal in many states.....older engine into a newer chassis is a no-no many places.

I wouldn't

Personally, I wouldn't purchase this cobble job to register it. I think this car has been posted here before. I guess it didn't sell the first time it was on ebay either.

I'd sell it to some one in a state where there is no inspection. This type of thing is too complicated for government work.

No, actually, there is a special classification in most states for cars that are customized. Shouldn't be hard to register, just takes some time filling in all the paperwork and traveling from government office to insurance office and back and forth. Documentation, bah hum bug.

It's probably easier for a Saudi national to get a demolition license...

If you could use the motor it sure would be easy to drive it home. The car is listed by someone whos says they're a carexpert. I wonder what a conserved interior is?

What, you don't like the lovely paint job, BHD?

Personally, I really like the AC low pressure hose.

I'm not a big fan of Krylon overhauls that look like it was sprayed by a 3 year old.

I'm sure that's the special Krylon "stop leak" paint...

It would be nice if the block and valve cover were sprayed but not every nut bolt accessory and fitting.

It also appears to be utilizing the radiator from the gasser....I suppose it'd be ok though, 6cyl gasser probably puts off more heat than a 5cyl diesel anyways. I know under the hood of our 3.0L gasser van when its been on a while things get HOT. Far hotter "feeling" than under the SD's hoods....could also be the cramped engine compartment....I dunno.

Hey, isn't that what most of us have been clamoring for??? The modern styling, handling, etc. of a 124 and the simplicity of the 617? Sure, the swap job is likely a nightmare but hey, it shows it can be done! My states don't seem to care about diesels. As long as it could pass the opacity test I'm fairly certain that it would be legal in my state. I would be suprised if any inspector would know the difference between a 617 and a 603 anyway. RT

Precisely! Sometimes people around here... I tell you...

Engine / Chassis swaps is something all car lovers would like to do... that dream to drop a V12 in your W126 and burn the tires each time, etc. So someone got to execute their dream and now a bunch of people here are being you know what about it!!!!!

If the W124 weren't a small car for me, I'd probably consider buying it. Great chassis along with one of the best MB engines of all time ... sounds like a winner. Not to mention the engine will perform better than in a W126 due to having less weight to push around.

In my state, inspections are strictly "safety" inspections. The car doesn't even have to be started for an inspection to be performed, as the performance of the engine doesn't constitute to what can be considered safety issues.

I'd bid a buck but the flight to the East coast and the drive back would bankrupt me. Then I'd likely have to hitch hike home
