So it continues. A while back I posted about a thudthudthud sound that changed with speed as I turned right. Here is the post.
ThudThudThudThud Sound!!!! So I found a half shaft and changed the driver's side one. For a couple of reasons. The passenger side one was replace less than a year ago, and there was no play between the cv joints in the driver side shaft. Before I made the swap the noise had evolved into more of a ticking noise when turning. The swap didn't do anything. I did use a used one, cause it was free. The passenger side shaft bolts came loose several months ago and the shop had to re-tap some of the bolts to put it back on (it's one of the new style ones). When this happened it made the same noise it's making now, but only for about 50 miles and then I had it fixed. Could those loose bolts have caused the new shaft to go bad. Or could I have bad center bearings or wheel bearings. I lifted the car and tried to listen with a rubber hose to the bearings but I couldn't hear anything. Also tried wiggling the wheel while they were off the ground to see if there was any play. No play found. Any thoughts? Thanks Andrew ![]()
