Valve stem seals....which color is which?

1982 300D.

Okay, so I'm just about ready to put on the 10 valve stem seals....but which color stem seal goes on the exhaust, and which color stem seal goes on the intake?

Thanks,

Pete.

Different stem sizes....no ?

.Black = exhaust.
Brown = intake.

Valve Stem Seal Color Code

The exhaust will be metal (often red) and the intake some composition (often green).

According to the 3 page procedure in the MB 126 Service Manual, however, the (MB) intake seals are black and the (MB) exhaust seals are green.

The seals I got were black and brown (despite the service manual saying "black and green"....I couldn't find in the ************** kit anything identifying which color was which.

So, so far I have one person saying that exhaust is black, and another saying that intake is black....

I'm still kinda stuck here.

Pete.

In section 05.8-270/2 of the 716.95 turbo diesel engine manual it states the following:

Intake valve stem seal - black
Exhaust valve stem seal - green
