They didn't charge me for the med kit or the linkage, just $8 for the taillight trim. It looks like, until I came along, the med kit was never opened. Everything was sealed and perfectly in place.

I'm really thinking about those euro bumpers. But with winter snows coming very soon, I can't spare the extra safety the bulky USA bumpers would give me from other drivers.

I finished the job someone started on the trunk. If I'd had my MityVac, I'd have opened it in a heartbeat; as it was, someone had bashed and bashed on it with no success. I tore up enough to get the cylinder out, then a little sideways flick of the screwdriver popped it up.

I hear you on the bumpers. Despite some hairy scenes last winter, I survived unscathed. I will do my best to guard my ends this year, and hope no idiot slams into me.

Thanks, but I need one with the A/C cut out. I still have mine but all the laquer is gone.
Did the car have manual windows?

Yes, manual windows. Funny, nice coupe with lots of options, but no AC or power windows.

As I recall it was in OK shape, but quite a number of cracks side to side, or I would have taken it to sell. Nice piece with only one cut-out for the hazard switch. I did take the manual heater wood surround - very nice shape, unfortunately it has only the one lever slot where my black plastic piece in my 240D has 2 slots. I may modify it, not sure yet.

not surprising

on the lack of power windows and such. completely different marketing strategy in europe.

here they targeted cadillac and such so power this and that was felt needed to sell to rich folks. much of that stuff is a detriment now after 20 plus years and causes headaches to maintain.

The 280CE still has great (even in green) cloth seats, front and back euro bumpers. The diff is a 3.58 with a nice 150mph (Not kph) speedo that has 179k miles on the clock. I managed to score the med kit out of it, the headlight switch assy, the chrome taillight trim from the melted 300D, and an old-style 300SD "throttle" linkage without all the emissions/vacuum crap on it.

There are also plenty of W116 450's and SD's, a W115 300D, W115 230, and a melted 300D. There is even a cute little LeCar in the middle of the lot.
When I was in Denver last I got most of the interior trim fron that melted 300d Too bad I didnt have room for the seats I could have used those too!

I think all you need to do is change the plastic insert around the two levers or you may even be able to use it as it is. My car has two levers. I had to reglue the veneer on mine because it had curled and peeled away. Luckily the veener was very thin so it was easy to glue back. It came out nice.
I like the fact my Euro model has all the manual amenities. It all works good and is easy to repair if needed. Even the radio antenna is manual.

Here is another rare find for you Denver folk at Colorado Auto & Parts. It's a 1983 Euro W123 250, 4-speed manual, palomino cloth seats, vacuum adjusting usa headlights, right hand drive, with 97k miles. Engine (Carburated) and tranny should be great shape, it had a nasty rear end impact that pushed the trunk into the back seat.

I scored the instrument gauges with economy gauge and a trunk emergency triangle.

The cluster with economy gauge will be of no use unless you have a gasser. It runs off manifold vacuum.
